The Rocket man is a short story from the anthology, The Illustrated Man, by Ray Bradbury. The story served as inspiration to Bernie Taupin, long-time song-writer for Elton John, in the song Rocket Man. Taupin also pays homage to the story, Zero Hour (also in the same anthology of short stories by Ray Bradbury) in the song lyrics for Rocket Man, “She packed my bags pre-flight / Zero hour, nine AM”.
Memento is a 2000 American neo-noir psychological thriller film written and directed by Christopher Nolan, and produced by Suzanne and Jennifer Todd.
The film’s script was based on a pitch by the director’s brother, Jonathan Nolan, who wrote the 2001 story “Memento Mori” from the concept.
Although filming a story out of sequence is not a unique concept, Momento is one of the best examples of a fractured timeline where the story is told out of sequence, reflecting the cognitive impairment of the main character who suffers a form of amnesia.
